Xi Jinping congratulates Mirza Fakhrul

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2026 (BSS) - Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his inauguration as 23rd President of Bangladesh, expressing readiness to work with him to further deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
In a congratulatory message, Xi said China and Bangladesh are neighbours enjoying a long-standing friendship and their bilateral relations have withstood the test of changing international circumstances.
Over the past 51 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have always respected and treated each other as equals, supported each other on issues concerning their respective core interests and major concerns, and pursued their paths towards modernisation hand in hand, he said.
Xi expressed his readiness to work with President Mirza Fakhrul to carry forward the traditional friendship, strengthen strategic communication and enhance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
The Chinese President also stressed expanding exchanges and cooperation across various sectors to further advance the China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era.
He hoped such cooperation would continue to deepen and deliver tangible outcomes, bringing greater benefits to the peoples of the two countries.
