To commemorate the 170th birth anniversary of renowned Russian artist Mikhail Vrubel, the Russian House in Dhaka organized an educational programme highlighting his life, innovative artistic techniques and iconic masterpieces.
Students studying art at the Serov Academy of Fine Arts, representing various educational institutions across Dhaka, participated in the programme with great enthusiasm.
The event featured an audiovisual presentation exploring Vrubel’s life and artistic evolution, from his academic training to his celebrated Symbolist masterpieces, including The Demon Seated, Pan and The Swan Princess.
Particular attention was given to Vrubel’s distinctive artistic approach, characterized by crystalline, mosaic-like forms and faceted planes of colour. Students learned how his innovative use of colour, texture and geometric forms contributed to his unique artistic language and anticipated certain developments in modern art.
The programme also introduced participants to different aspects of Russian artistic heritage, including decorative ceramics and stage design. Through the engaging presentation, young Bangladeshi artists gained valuable insights into Russian art history and its contribution to the broader development of visual art.
The educational initiative reflects the Russian House in Dhaka’s continued commitment to promoting Russian artistic heritage, encouraging international appreciation of the arts and strengthening cultural ties between Russia and Bangladesh.
