UNESCO delegation meets IGP, emphasizes cooperation on capacity building

A three-member delegation from the UNESCO led by Country Representative Susan Vize today paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir at the Police Headquarters. 
During the meeting, Susan Vize congratulated the newly appointed IGP and discussed a range of important issues, including police reform, protection of freedom of expression, community policing, human rights, and cybersecurity, said a police press release.
She also expressed UNESCO's interest in supporting capacity-building initiatives for the Bangladesh Police, particularly through training programs aimed at strengthening professional skills and improving relations between the police and the media.
The IGP welcomed UNESCO's interest in enhancing the capabilities of the police force and underscored the importance of strengthening mutual cooperation between the Bangladesh Police and UNESCO.
Senior officials of the Bangladesh Police were also present at the meeting.
