Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi has suspended all consular and visa services until further notice.
"Due to unavoidable circumstances, all consular & visa services from the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi are temporarily suspended until further notice," according to a notice posted by the Bangladesh mission on its notice board today.
"Any inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted," it said.
The development comes two days after a group of 20-25 people held a demonstration in front of the Bangladesh mission in New Delhi.
Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain on Sunday told reporters in Dhaka that he got information suggesting that Bangladesh High Commissioner Riaz Hamidullah was issued death threats from the protesters on Saturday evening.
Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in a media briefing on Sunday, however, said there was no attempt to breach the fence or create a security situation at any time, and that the police stationed at the spot dispersed the group after a few minutes.
The youths protested against the killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a garment worker, in Mymensingh and called for the protection of all minorities in Bangladesh.
On Sunday, the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Chattogram city suspended its operations until further notice, citing the recent security situation at the Assistant High Commission of India (AHCI), Chattogram.
Last week, the IVAC in Dhaka, Khulna, and Khulna remained partially closed one day each over what it said was a security situation amid protests in all the three cities.
High commissioners of both the countries were also summoned.
