India has resumed issuing tourist visas for Bangladeshi citizens nearly two years of suspension in the aftermath of the July uprising.
Dinesh Trivedi, the newly appointed Indian high commissioner in Dhaka, made this announcement at the Indian Visa Application Center at the Jamuna Future Park today.
"I am very happy to be able to announce the launch of general travel visas again. Visa applications can be submitted starting June 28. Urgent medical visas will continue to be provided for humanitarian reasons," he said.
He mentioned that visas will be issued from five centers— Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Sylhet, and Khulna – across the country. These activities will be further expanded in the future.
