Idibek Kalandar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, along with his
official delegation, had a bilateral meeting on trade and investment with Jadab Debnath, President of
CIS-BCCI and his Board of Directors on 07 July, 2026 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation between
Bangladesh and Tajikistan, with particular emphasis on enhancing private sector engagement. Both sides
exchanged views on expanding business opportunities and fostering closer commercial ties between the two
countries.
The Tajik delegation expressed its keen interest in increasing imports from Bangladesh, promoting joint
ventures, and facilitating greater business-to-business cooperation and investment.
During the meeting, Mr. Jadab Debnath highlighted that CIS-BCCI is the only chamber in Bangladesh
dedicated exclusively to promoting bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and the CIS
countries. He reaffirmed the Chamber's commitment to strengthening trade and investment relations with
Tajikistan, with particular emphasis on the sectors of tourism, pharmaceuticals, jute and jute products,
hospitality, energy, cotton, and agro-processed products. He also expressed CIS-BCCI's readiness to work
closely with the Government and business community of Tajikistan to explore new opportunities for mutual
investment and sustainable economic partnership.
To facilitate greater trade and investment, CIS-BCCI proposed several initiatives. The Chamber requested the
Government of Tajikistan to introduce a simplified and business-friendly e-Visa facility for Bangladeshi
businesspeople. It also emphasized the need to strengthen banking connectivity by facilitating the
establishment of branches or representative offices of Tajik banks in Bangladesh to ensure smoother and more
secure cross-border commercial transactions.
CIS-BCCI further proposed the introduction of direct air connectivity between Tajikistan and Bangladesh,
noting that direct flights would significantly promote trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people
exchanges between the two friendly countries.
Both sides also agreed in principle to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CIS-BCCI and
the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan to strengthen institutional
cooperation, facilitate business delegations, exchange trade information, and promote bilateral trade and
investment.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen economic partnership and create new
opportunities for the business communities of both countries. Both parties expressed confidence that the
initiatives discussed would further strengthen the longstanding friendship and economic cooperation between
Bangladesh and Tajikistan.

Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mohammad Monirul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the
Republic of Tajikistan, and S. M. Mahbubul Alam, Director General (East Europe & CIS), Ministry
