Bangladesh team has set an example by saving a person alive, recovering 15 dead bodies and removing six damaged buildings.

A unique humanitarian example has been set up by the special rescue team led by the Bangladesh Army in post-earthquake assistance in Turkey, said a press release.

Earlier, a terrible earthquake struck the eastern part of Turkey in Gaziantep province and caused massive loss of life, destruction of structures and damage to civil facilities in the concerned areas causing humanitarian disaster.

A special rescue team of 46 members under the leadership of the Bangladesh Army went to Turkey on February 8, 2023 to take part in rescue operation and provide medical facilities to the most affected area of Turkey, Gaziantep Province following the request of the Turkish government to the Bangladesh government.

As part of the humanitarian aid, the members of the rescue team are working tirelessly in the midst of severe winter and hostile conditions.

The team distributed 120 cartons of food and 72 tents among the affected people.

In order to provide medical care to the affected people, the army medical team is divided into two parts, a permanent medical center and a first aid team at the rescue operation site, the press release added.

The permanent medical center primarily provides treatment to earthquake and trauma patients and so far it provided medical care to 104 people and distributed 32 cartoons of medicines among them.

Local people are showing very positive response at the friendlier behavior of the Bangladeshi team.
