The interim government today issued a notification banning all activities of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations, under the Anti-Terrorism Act, until the International Crimes Tribunal completes the trial of the party and its leaders.
Ziauddin Ahmed, joint secretary (Political-2) of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed that the notification has already been issued.
In response to a query while speaking to reporters at the Secretariat this afternoon, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, "We will act in accordance with the instructions outlined in the gazette. We also request your cooperation so we can carry out our duties accordingly."
