A new chapter has begun in the literary journey of Boston-based poet Akram Bhuiya. His debut poetry collection, "O Mankind, Where Is Your Humanity?", has recently been published and is already generating interest and discussion among readers.
Built on four core themes—humanity, compassion, socio-political reality, and the experiences of expatriate life—the book reflects the poet’s deep concern for the growing moral crisis in today’s chaotic world. His poems highlight issues such as the erosion of humanity, moral decay, and the increasing lack of tolerance.
The book’s launch was held at a recent literary gathering in Boston, attended by professionals, writers, poets, and cultural enthusiasts. Speakers at the event noted that although Bhuiyan’s poetic language is simple, it resonates deeply and raises urgent questions.
Speaking about his work, Akram Bhuiya said, “I believe poetry has the power to bring about social change. In this era of unrest and inequality, it’s more important than ever to reframe the question of humanity.”
The book has been published by Sukh Prokashona, a Bangladeshi publishing house based in Connecticut, USA. According to the publisher, it will soon be available online and in Bengali bookstores across several U.S. states and in Bangladesh.
Literary organizers in Boston consider this poetry collection a significant addition to the ongoing tradition of Bengali literary expression in the diaspora. They believe the book offers not only poetic pleasure but also prompts deep reflection on the future of humanity.
Poet Akram Bhuiya was born in the village of Basail in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj district. He earned an MSc in Applied Physics from the University of Dhaka and later obtained an MS and a PhD in Engineering from Tufts and Northeastern universities in Massachusetts. He has published research articles on machine vision systems, high-energy particle physics, instrumentation design, magnetic materials, and device electronics. He currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts, with his family.
'O Mankind, Where Is Your Humanity' has been published by a Bangladeshi publishing house Sukh Prokashona of Connecticut, USA and is priced at $20. It will soon be available at Bengali bookstores across various U.S. states.
