Bangladesh and Pakistan have discussed regional and global developments as the foreign ministers of the two countries met on the sidelines of Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey on Friday.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, in a Facebook post, said he was pleased to meet Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman on the sidelines of Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026.
"We discussed strengthening Pakistan-Bangladesh ties and exchanged views on regional developments, including Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue. I look forward to our continued positive and forward-looking engagement,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir met Zafer Sırakaya, member of parliament representing Istanbul and vice chairman for foreign affairs of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
The Turkish representative expressed a strong interest in formalising ties between BNP and AK Party and proposed a memorandum of understanding to enhance their bilateral cooperation through official channels.
The meeting also included plans for mutual delegation visits to further strengthen their international cooperation.
During the courtesy meeting, Zafer Sırakaya extended his congratulations to the Bangladesh PM, Tarique Rahman.
Humaiun Kobir noted that the AK Party is the first to extend such a proposal to the BNP as a political party of Bangladesh.
They also discussed party-to-party delegation visits between both sides.
