Bangladesh assures foreign missions of robust security ahead of election

Foreign secretary briefs nearly 40 diplomats in Dhaka

The foreign ministry has assured foreign diplomats in Dhaka regarding security and the maintenance of law and order ahead of the national election scheduled for February 12, 2026.
Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam briefed them at the State Guest House Padma in Dhaka this afternoon.
In a statement, the foreign ministry said it organised a briefing for the diplomats to inform embassies in Dhaka about the updated preparations and security arrangements taken in view of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum.
In the briefing, the foreign diplomats were also informed that the Election Commission (EC) would welcome election observers from abroad.
Furthermore, the foreign secretary also informed the diplomats that the country's law enforcement agencies, including the Armed Forces, are vigilant and active in maintaining law and order.
"In this context, the embassies were also assured regarding their security," the statement said.
Approximately 40 diplomats from the embassies located in Dhaka were present at the briefing.
