Aiming to build a community around our shared memories of Dhaka city, reflect on how cities shape our lives and worldviews; and to enjoy the art of storytelling together, the Tell Your Dhaka Stories event is going to be held in Washington DC tomorrow. Under the auspices of eminent writer and development thinker Professor Dr. Adnan Morshed, the event has been organized at the Crough Center of School of Architecture and Allied Arts of The Catholic University of America in Washington DC.
Ms. Diane Rhyu Taylor, Public Programs Director at the National Building Museum who lived in Dhaka for many years, will give the welcome remarks and Professor Morshed will deliver the context of his book 'Dhaka Delirium.' The book is an anthology of his writings on Dhaka over the past two decades.
While asked Professor Morshed informed Dhaka Diplomat that the event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the city where many of us spent years of our lives, gathering memories and experiences in countless shades. Also, the invited panelists and audience members will share their memories, reflections or experiences deeply tied to Dhaka and the possible themes include memoirs of Dhaka University or college/school life, eating in old Dhaka/an experience of a boat ride on the Buriganga river, experience of 1971 in Dhaka, a film about Dhaka that left an impression, the traumatic experience of losing someone's wallet to a pickpocket, meeting a long lost relative accidentally on a crowded sidewalk, joyful or frightening experience of nighttime Dhaka or anything else meaningfully connected to the city itself. Dr. Morshed urged all Bangladeshi expatriates to attend the event and share their memories of Dhaka.
