
Bangladesh and Oman today called for continued dialogue and diplomacy to secure a durable peaceful solution to the ongoing
conflict in the Gulf during a bilateral meeting in Muscat.
The call was made when Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman held talks with Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi in the Omani capital
today.
During the meeting, both sides urged the concerned parties to remain engaged in dialogue and diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis peacefully.
The Bangladesh foreign minister conveyed the sincere thanks of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for his important role
in efforts aimed at bringing the crisis to a peaceful and early end.
Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister Humayun Kabir was also present at the meeting.
Dr. Rahman expressed appreciation to the government of Oman for hosting more than 700,000 Bangladeshi expatriates in the Gulf nation.
The Omani foreign minister praised the role and contribution of Bangladeshi nationals to Oman's daily life and economic progress.
The two sides also exchanged views on expanding bilateral economic and business cooperation, including collaboration in pharmaceuticals, food and
agriculture, and port logistics.
The Bangladesh foreign minister extended an invitation to his Omani counterpart to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.
