
The Korea-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KBCCI), in close collaboration with the Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul, has successfully concluded its vibrant participation in the prestigious three-day Korea Import Expo 2026, held at the COEX Hall B in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from June 23 to 25, 2026.
The high-profile exhibition was officially and jointly inaugurated on June 23, 2026, by Ms. YoungMi Youn, Chairman of the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA), alongside His Excellency Mr. Toufiq Islam Shatil, ndc, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Republic of Korea and other invited ambassadors from various nations, alongside prominent domestic and foreign dignitaries. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the KOIMA Chairman and an elite group of VIP guests paid a special visit to the Bangladesh Embassy Pavilion. The expo attracted strong participation from diierent embassies, international companies, Korean importers, distributors and trade-related organizations. The exhibition features approximately 200 booths showcasing a wide range of products including food and beverages, cosmetics, consumer goods, household products, health & wellness items, electronics, industrial materials and innovative technologies.
The Bangladesh Pavilion was jointly inaugurated by the Ambassador of Bangladesh KBBCI President Mr. Shahab Uddin Khan. The flagship Pavilion, characterized by its spectacular and aesthetically designed presentation, became an instant highlight of the fair, generating immense interest among a massive influx of buyers and visitors. The pavilion effectively projected Bangladesh’s rapidly expanding economic footprint under the banner “Invest in Bangladesh: Advancing Trade and Investment Through Strong Bilateral Relations.”
Parallel to the main exhibition, the KBCCI delegation met with the KOIMA Chairman for a dedicated bilateral meeting. During the high-level discussions, both sides strongly reaffirmed their commitment and promised to work closely together to enhance mutual economic cooperation. This milestone participation follows strategic foundational partnerships, including the landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between KBCCI and KOIMA in September 2024 to enhance import-export mechanism frameworks between both friendly nations.
A powerful 41-member business delegation, led by KBCCI President Mr. Shahab Uddin Khan, traveled to Seoul to anchor Bangladesh’s participation. Proving to be a highly proactive mission, more than 15 B2B sideline meetings were successfully held during the three days of the expo, linking Bangladeshi entrepreneurs directly with Korean and foreign buyers. A total of 32 dynamic Bangladeshi companies showcased products across diverse sectors, including Apparel, Textiles, & Garment Accessories; Premium Leather Goods & Footwear; Jute, Eco-Friendly Bio-degradable Items, & Handicrafts; Agro & Processed Food Products; Information Technology & AI-Driven Software Solutions; logistic services etc. Robust representation was observed from the Bangladesh Garments Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA).
During a reception in the Embassy on 26th June 2026, the Ambassador of Bangladesh committed all out cooperation from the Embassy to KBCCI and the delegation members in their pursuit to enhance trade & investment between Bangladesh and South Korea. The reception was also attended by Amb. Mr. Lee Yun Young, Vice President of KOICA and former Ambassador of South Korea to Bangladesh , Amb. Park Young Sik, former Ambassador of South Korea to Bangladesh and Mr. David Kim, Honorary Consul General of Bangladesh Embassy in Incheon, South Korea.
