The Embassy of Algeria in Dhaka hosted a condolence book signing, attended by ambassadors, high commissioners, foreign ministry officials, and members of civil society. They expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with Algeria, honoring Zéroual’s leadership during a pivotal period.

Diplomats and Bangladeshi civil society , religious leaders paid tribute to his commitment to peace, stability, and international cooperation. Civil society participation reflected the broad respect he commanded globally.

Born on July 3, 1941, in Batna, Algeria, Liamine Zéroual began his career in the Algerian army at the age of 16. Rising through the ranks, he commanded key military regions and later served as Algeria’s Ambassador to Romania, gaining valuable diplomatic experience. His appointment as Chief of Land Forces in 1989 marked a significant milestone in his distinguished military career.including the longstanding and friendly ties between Algeria and Bangladesh.
