Today, Bangladesh High Commission in Colombo observed the historic 7th March in a befitting manner. The day’s program began with the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag at the Chancery in the morning. The High Commission officials placed a floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. A special prayer was offered for the eternal peace of the Father of the Nation and his martyred family members as well as the continued peace and prosperity of Bangladesh under the able leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The High Commission hosted a discussion session on the occasion. The speakers highlighted the significance of Bangabandhu’s 7th March speech and how it inspired the people of Bangladesh to fight for the independence. In his remarks, the High Commissioner analyzed various important aspects of the 7th March speech and how it has become universal for the people who are fighting for emancipation. The messages of the Hon’ble President and Hon’ble Prime Minister were read out. A documentary was also screened on the 7th March speech.

The observance was participated by High Commission officials, community members, and Sri Lankan friends of Bangladesh.
