British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke has said the modern economic, trade and security partnership between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom (UK) continues to prosper as Bangladesh celebrates its Victory Day on Saturday.

"I am delighted to wish everyone in Bangladesh a happy Victory Day," she said in a brief message ahead of Victory Day.

The High Commissioner said the UK has been a close friend of Bangladesh since independence based on shared history and deep people to people ties.

The UK and Bangladesh welcomed the evolution of the bilateral relationship into a modern economic, trade and security partnership, which advances shared global and regional priorities such as tackling climate change and the Rohingya refugee crisis, according to the British government.
