Russia’s Victory Day celebrated in Dhaka

Association of Russian Compatriots in Bangladesh “RODINA” (Motherland) and Russian embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday celebrated 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.  

Alexander V. Mantytskiy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Bangladesh, inaugurated the programme, said a press release.

A rally of over 50 cars and motorcycles bearing Replicas of Flags of Victory in 1945 and Soviet Union black-orange St. George ribbons and symbolizing ‘Immortal Regiment’ moved from Dhanmondi to Newmarket area.    

The participants emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the Second World War and the decisive role of the USSR in the victory over Nazism.

Among others, members of Soviet Alumni Association Bangladesh (SAAB), CIS-Bangladesh Chamber of commerce, Russian Embassy staff and lots of Bangladeshis actively participated at the programme.

The festivities ended by the great reception held at Russian diplomatic mission on this occasion.
