Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir
Uddin Swapon today inaugurated the 5th China Media Group (CMG) Forum in
Chongqing, China, alongside a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist
Party of China and China's Vice Minister of Information.
The theme of this year's forum is "Upholding and Reshaping: The Media's
Mission in the Intelligent Era."
Addressing the inaugural session, the minister underscored the need to
further strengthen information exchange, content sharing and technological
cooperation in the digital age, said a press release here today.
Swapon said international collaboration is vital to combating misinformation
and disinformation, adding that responsible journalism and effective
information management are essential for advancing development, peace and
public welfare.
Swapon also stressed the importance of expanding training opportunities,
skills-exchange programmes and joint initiatives between media institutions
of Bangladesh and China.
Around 300 representatives from different countries, international
organizations and media outlets are taking part in the forum.
Several artificial intelligence (AI)-based initiatives related to the media
sector are being showcased at the event.
Participants expressed hope that the conference would open new avenues for
global media cooperation, technology-driven information management and
cultural exchange.
