Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus is expected to engage with senior US authorities in Washington as part of Bangladesh's broader effort to address trade concerns and maintain favourable market access.
This disclosure was made after an emergency meeting this evening between Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, experts, advisers, and top government officials at the State Guest House Jamuna to discuss the US tariffs issue.

Following the meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin stated that the CA will join talks with the US administration in Washington.

"He will contact them directly."

High Representative of the Chief Adviser on the Rohingya Problem and Priority Issues, Khalilur Rahman, told reporters, "There's no need to worry."
"We are in contact with the US administration. We are prepared... We will take measures soon and continue talks with the US administration to move forward," he added.
He emphasised that this was not a sudden or recent development. "Since February, we have been discussing this issue with the US."

The meeting started around 7:30pm at the state guest house, according to the Chief Adviser's Office.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur, Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain, NBR Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan, BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Energy and Railways Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Policy Research Institute Chairman economist Zaidi Sattar, Finance Secretary Khairuzzaman Mozumder, and chief adviser's envoy for International Affairs Lutfey Siddiqui, CA's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Principal Coordinator of SDG Affairs at the CAO Lamiya Murshed, among others, were present at the meeting.

On April 2, US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on imports from 60 countries, including Bangladesh.
The US imposed a 37 percent ad valorem tariff on imports from Bangladesh, raising concerns among exporters, particularly garment makers, who shipped $7.4 billion of over $8 billion worth of goods to America.
