Chief Adviser of the interim government Prof Muhammad Yunus expressed his confidence in the Bangladesh Army's professionalism and dedication, emphasising its crucial role in ensuring national sovereignty and security.
Prof Yunus made the expression after Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman met with him at the state guest house Jamuna today, according to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
They discussed national security, military professionalism, and ongoing army activities.
During the meeting, the army chief briefed the chief adviser on the overall security situation in the country and the army's current operations.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman also highlighted the military's ongoing initiatives to contribute to national stability and development.
The discussion covered various strategic matters, including the army chief's recent visit to the Central African Republic, which General Waker-Uz-Zaman believes will strengthen bilateral relations and enhance military cooperation between the two nations.
Additionally, the army chief updated Prof Yunus on the recent assessment and recommendations made by the high-level panel regarding justice for disadvantaged army officers.
He also provided insights into the progress of the ongoing senior-level review concerning JCOs (Junior Commissioned Officers) and other ranks dismissed under various circumstances.
The chief adviser acknowledged the army's contributions and guided its future course of action.
The ISPR statement further mentioned that Prof Yunus was briefed on the military's efforts in providing medical care to students and civilians injured during the July-August uprisings.
